Ingredients:
- 8 oz chow mein noodles
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 1 cup sliced carrots
- 1 cup sliced bell peppers
- 1 cup sliced cabbage
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- Optional: cooked chicken, beef, shrimp, or tofu
Instructions:
- Cook the chow mein noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large pan or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the minced garlic and sliced onion to the pan. Stir-fry for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the carrots, bell peppers, and cabbage to the pan. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
- If using cooked protein (chicken, beef, shrimp, or tofu), add it to the pan at this point and stir to combine with the vegetables.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and black pepper.
- Add the cooked chow mein noodles to the pan, then pour the sauce over the noodles and vegetables.
