Ingredients:
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 4 cups water
- Sweeteners (optional), such as maple syrup or dates
- Pinch of salt
- Vanilla extract (optional)
Equipment:
- Blender
- Nut milk bag or cheesecloth
- Bowl
- Airtight container for storage
Instructions:
- Place the rolled oats in a bowl and cover them with water. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes or overnight in the refrigerator.
- After soaking, drain and rinse the oats thoroughly.
- In a blender, combine the soaked oats, 4 cups of water, sweetener (if using), a pinch of salt, and vanilla extract (if using).
- Blend on high speed for about 30-45 seconds until the mixture looks creamy and well combined.
- Place the nut milk bag or cheesecloth over a bowl and carefully pour the oat milk mixture into it.
- Gently squeeze the bag or cloth to extract as much liquid as possible. This will separate the oat pulp from the milk.
- Transfer the oat milk to an airtight container and refrigerate. It can be stored for up to 5 days.
- Before use, shake the oat milk well as it may separate when stored.
