Ingredients:

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 4 cups water
  • Sweeteners (optional), such as maple syrup or dates
  • Pinch of salt
  • Vanilla extract (optional)

Equipment:

  • Blender
  • Nut milk bag or cheesecloth
  • Bowl
  • Airtight container for storage

Instructions:

  1. Place the rolled oats in a bowl and cover them with water. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes or overnight in the refrigerator.
  2. After soaking, drain and rinse the oats thoroughly.
  3. In a blender, combine the soaked oats, 4 cups of water, sweetener (if using), a pinch of salt, and vanilla extract (if using).
  4. Blend on high speed for about 30-45 seconds until the mixture looks creamy and well combined.
  5. Place the nut milk bag or cheesecloth over a bowl and carefully pour the oat milk mixture into it.
  6. Gently squeeze the bag or cloth to extract as much liquid as possible. This will separate the oat pulp from the milk.
  7. Transfer the oat milk to an airtight container and refrigerate. It can be stored for up to 5 days.
  8. Before use, shake the oat milk well as it may separate when stored.
